Fresno State junior to compete at the senior national meet for the first time.
"I'm excited to even have the opportunity to be there with Olympians, professional athletes and other collegiate athletes that are there," Hopkins said. "I'm just looking to go there and do my best and not worry about what other people are doing. I need to go out there and relax, just do what I know how to do."
Hopkins qualified for the championships with a mark of 194'-10"/59.38m which she set on May 26 at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas. She is one of 12 athletes in tomorrow's event to hit the qualifying standard for the meet and is one of 18 total who will be competing for a spot at the IAAF World Championships.
Hopkins' mark currently ranks No. 38 in the world this year. She has the second-highest mark of collegians in the field behind Stanford's Valerie Allman who redshirted the 2017 outdoor season.
