Zwaschka releases 2017 schedule, Bulldogs to host 10 matches

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team will host 10 matches of its 19-game schedule during the upcoming 2017 season, which is set to begin on Aug. 18, ninth-year head coach Brian Zwaschka announced Monday. The Bulldogs are set to host four nonconference foes, as well as six Mountain West matches.

"We are excited to play such a competitive non-conference schedule," Zwaschka said. "We have ten home matches this season to play in front of the Red Wave. Including the exhibition match, we play 17 of our 20 matches in California. We are thrilled that this gives our families, friends and fans a lot of opportunities to see our team play live."

All Fresno State home games will be held in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.

The 'Dogs will get things started with an exhibition match at Cal Poly on Aug. 13.

The majority of the 'Dogs' nonconference schedule will be against five teams from the Big West: Cal State Fullerton (Aug. 20), at CSUN (Aug. 31), UC Davis (Sept. 7), at UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 10) and UC Riverside (Sept. 15). Fresno State hasn't faced five Big West opponents in a season since 1997. The remaining nonconference matchups will be at Pacific (Aug. 18), at Sacramento State (Aug. 26) and Cal State Bakersfield (Sept. 3).

Fresno State opens up Mountain West conference play with home matches against Boise State (Sept. 22) and Utah State (Sept. 24).

The 'Dogs will then go on the road for four conference games, at Wyoming (Sept. 29), Colorado State (Oct. 1), New Mexico (Oct. 6) and San Diego State (Oct. 8). Before returning home for a four-game conference homestand. The 'Dogs will face UNLV (Oct. 13), Nevada (Oct. 15), Air Force (Oct. 20) and Colorado College (Oct. 22) in the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.

Fresno State will conclude its regular season on the road against Mountain West foe San Jose State (Oct. 27).

The 2017 Mountain West Tournament will be hosted by UNLV Oct. 31-Nov. 4.
