FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State men's tennis head coach Luke Shields announced the addition of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi transfer Cagatay Soke to his 2017-18 squad.
Soke will enter the 2017-18 season as a sophomore and will have three years of eligibility.
He leaves Texas A&M CC after being the program's highest ITF Junior Ranking by any incoming recruit in program history.
The Turkey native climbed as high as No. 131 in the world at the junior level while reaching a pinnacle of No. 1399 in the ATP Professional Rankings.
Soke was the Turkish U18 National Champion in 2015, at the age of 17. He won two ITF Junior tournaments and added two additional finals appearances and three semifinal berths. On the pro circuit, he reached the final 16 in three futures tournaments in Turkey.
"We really look forward to the addition of Cagatay to our team," Shields said. "He has a lot of experience both at the junior and professional levels. The standards here at Fresno State are extremely high and Cagatay matches those standards because of his strong values. His discipline and work-ethic are what really stood out to me while recruiting."

Soke joins fellow Turkish tennis player Cem Erturk in the 2017 signing class. Â
