FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State football team will conclude fall camp on Sunday with a brief practice after holding its third and final scrimmage on Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium. The 'Dogs will have Monday off and with classes starting on Tuesday, they will enter a new practice routine leading toward the home opener on September 2.
"I feel like we've made a lot of progress," said head coach Jeff Tedford about the last three weeks. "Still improving, but we've made a lot of progress. We came out healthy from camp, we got a lot of good work in, so a very successful camp."
The depth chart is still fluid, despite camp coming to an end. With positions and playing time up for grabs with one more week before entering game week, Coach Tedford and his staff will have their work cut out for them the next few days, but it is not to be mistaken for a negative.
"We have decisions to make," said Tedford. "But just because Week One is what it is, it doesn't mean that it's like that all year long. It's going to continue to stay competitive. But [the entire team] showed some good things. It's a nice problem to have."
With a team that is returning 62 student-athletes and adding 41 newcomers in the fold, competition has been fierce. There are 38 returning lettermen and 18 returning starters aiming to keep their spots with the added depth.
"We have a big personnel meeting on Monday, a meeting on how we're going to move forward," Tedford added.
