'Dogs drop home opener 2-1

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's soccer team dropped its 2017 home opener to CS Fullerton 2-1 in the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium, Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs fall to 1-1 on the season.
Tori Nicolo, Megan Amick, Julia Glaser, Sydni Lunt, Myra Delgadillo, Melissa Ellis, Alissa Pham, Peyton Cline, Anna Crawford and Sara Jo Ciapponi led the charge for the Bulldogs, with Nicole Theroux in front of the net.
FIRST HALF
The Bulldogs struck quickly when Peyton Cline scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Sara Jo Ciapponi in the seventh minute of play.
Nicole Theroux recorded two saves to keep the Titans scoreless in the first half.
Fresno State owned the advantage in shots (5-2) and saves (2-0). Both teams logged two corner kicks in the first half.
SECOND HALF
CS Fullerton retailiated in the second half with back-to-back goals from Samantha Koemans and Sarah Fajnor, to put the Titans up 2-1 in the 59th minute.
CS Fullerton's offense came out strong in the second half outshoot Fresno State 7-2 in the second half.
The Bulldogs' two shots in the second half couldn't find the back of the net to erase the deficit, locking in the win for the Titans.
CS Fullerton owned the advantage in shots (9-7) and corner kicks (5-3). Fresno State recorded more saves (4-1).Â
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Bulldogs will go on the road to face Sacramento State on Aug. 26 and CSUN on Aug. 31. Fresno State will return home on Sept. 3 to host CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m. PT in the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
