Tuiasosopo leads ‘Dogs on day one in New Mexico

Senior places third in weight throw.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Fresno State track and field team returned to action on Friday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational after taking the last month off. Senior Aisiah Tuiasosopo earned the Bulldogs' top result of day one, placing third in the weight throw at the ABQ Convention Center.
On her fifth throw of the competition Tuiasosopo landed a throw of 63'-2"/19.25m. Her mark was three-and-a-half feet out of the top spot. Fellow senior Kayla Hopkins also finished in the top 10, placing seventh with a throw of 57'-9.5/17.61m.
In the high jump, juniors Varvara Klyuchniko and Jestena Mattson finished eighth and ninth. Both Bulldogs finished with a mark of 5'-3.25"/1.61m.
On the track, six Bulldogs competed in the 200 meters, three which clocked a time under 25 seconds. Senior Njeri Omawahleh earned the top time, placing seventh at 24.30. Junior Maja Pogorevc also finished in the top 10 at 24.60.
