'Dogs finish ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Four members of the Fresno State men's tennis team wrapped up the  Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships, on Sunday. Cem Erturk, Jeremy Moser, Henrique Osorio and Cagatay Soke represented Fresno State in the event.
"It was a good learning experience for all four guys," said head coach Luke Shields. "We got to see some of the best players in the country. We will learn and build off this experience."
The Bulldogs left the prestigious tournament with three singles wins.
PRE-QUALIFYING SINGLES DRAW
There were 256 players in the pre-qualifying draw, only the final 16 players advanced to the qualifying draw.
First Round – Soke defeated Joseph Schrader of NC State in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Erturk got his first win of the fall against Sebastian Rios of Ole Miss 6-1, 6-1. Osorio also notched his first win of the season against Tom Thelwall-Jones of Tulsa in a three-set battle (7-5, 4-6, 6-0). Moser was bested by Carson Haskins of Indiana in a close match with two tiebreakers 7-6(5), 7-6(1), Moser moved to the consolation bracket.
Second Round – Soke fell to Eduardo Roldan of TCU in a three-set match 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-1. Erturk was bested by Preston Touliatos of Tennessee (6-1, 6-2). Osorio came up short against Brandon Laubser of Auburn (6-4, 6-3), Laubser was one of the 16 players to make it out of the pre-qualifying draw.
Consolation Bracket – Moser moved to the consolation bracket after his loss in the first round. He was slated against No. 6 Trevor Foshey of Mississippi State, Foshey bested Moser (6-2, 6-4).
