‘Dogs complete round one of Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Fresno State men's golf team completed the first round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, hosted by Pacific at the Stockton Golf and Country Club in Stockton, Calif., on Thursday. The 'Dogs got off to a slow start, finishing the day in 16th place with a score of 16-over-par 300.
Senior Alex Lee was set at No. 1 in the lineup for his fourth start in as many tournaments this season and validated coach Spencer's decision by leading the 'Dogs throughout the first round. The Sacramento, Calif., native fired a 2-over-par 73 to tie for 48th place in the opening round of the tournament.
Sophomore Michael Cliff, listed at No. 2 in the lineup and also receiving his fourth consecutive start, followed Lee by a single stroke. The hometown Fresno, Calif., native scored a 3-over-par 74 in the first round to finish the day tied for 58th place.
Redshirt senior Cody Riecks was just one stroke behind Cliff in his third start of the season, opening the tournament shooting a 4-over-par 75. The Auburn, Calif., native is currently tied for 66th place.
Sophomores Kevin Huff and Lane Pulliam were the final 'Dogs on the scorecard, both carding a 7-over-par 78 in round one. The two Bulldogs currently sit tied for 82nd place.
Competing as an individual in the tournament is freshman Tyler Gardner. Another hometown Fresno, Calif., native, Gardner shot a 5-over-par 76 in round one to place tied for 74th at the end of day one.
The second round is set to begin with tee times off holes No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8 a.m. PST on Friday. The final round will be played on Saturday, using the same format and start times. Live scoring results will continue to be provided here.
