‘Dogs conclude play in final round of Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Fresno State men's golf team completed competition in the final round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, hosted by Pacific at the Stockton Golf and Country Club in Stockton, Calif., on Saturday. After bouncing back in round two after a sluggish start in round one, the 'Dogs lulled on day three to finish the final round at 7-over-par 291 and place 16th overall in the tournament with a score of 19-over-par 871.
Senior Alex Lee started the tournament as the number one golfer in the lineup and finished as the top 'Dog on the scorecard, firing an even-par 71 in the third round. The Sacramento, Calif., native scored an even-par 213 overall at the tournament's conclusion, placing him tied for 30th place.
Sophomore Lane Pulliam followed a stroke behind Lee on the day, shooting a 1-over-par 72 in the final round. The Hanford, Calif., native also trailed behind Lee on the scorecard, ending the tournament tied for 58th place with a score of 6-over-par 219.
Fresno State had three 'Dogs to finish the tournament tied for 65th place with a score of 8-over-par 221. Fellow sophomores Michael Cliff and Kevin Huff were the two Bulldogs whose final scores counted toward the team's final total. Cliff shot a 2-over-par 73 in the final round to reach that total, while Huff carded a 4-over-par 75 in the final round for the same result. As an individual, freshman Tyler Gardener also achieved the same final tally. The hometown Fresno, Calif., native posted a 3-over-par 74 in the final round to reach the same total.
Redshirt senior Cody Riecks finished as the final 'Dog on the scorecard, carding a 5-over-par 76 in the final round. The Auburn, Calif., native concluded the tournament tied for 84th place with a score of 16-over-par 229.
Fresno State's next action will be heading toward the coast to Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif., to compete in the St. Mary's Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's, on Monday, Nov. 5, through Wednesday, Nov. 7. Further information regarding tournament format, times and admission will be provided on a later date.
