‘Dogs vastly improve in second round of Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Fresno State men's golf team turned things around in the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, hosted by Pacific at the Stockton Golf and Country Club in Stockton, Calif., on Saturday. After struggling in the first round, the 'Dogs gained 20 strokes on their day-one total to finish the second round at 4-under-par 280. Fresno State is currently in 15th place with a score of 12-over-par 580.
Senior Alex Lee continued to lead the 'Dogs on the scorecard, firing a 2-under-par 69 in the second round to bring his two-round total to an even-par 142. The Sacramento, Calif., native is currently tied for 31st place.
Sophomore Kevin Huff had the best round on day 2 for Fresno State along with his lowest single-round total of his career, scoring a 3-under par 68, giving him a two-day score of 4-over-par 146. The El Dorado Hills, Calif., native currently sits tied for 58th place.
Fellow sophomore Lane Pulliam followed a stroke behind Huff by the end of day two, carding a 5-over-par 147 to place tied for 64th place. The Hanford, Calif., native stayed even with teammate Lee in the second round at 2-under-par 69.
Competing as an individual, Tyler Gardner earned the same two-round score as Pulliam at 5-over par 147, also tying for 64th place. The hometown Fresno, Calif., native notched an even-par 71 in the second round.
Sophomore Michael Cliff was next on the scorecard, shooting a 3-over-par 74 in the second round. Another Fresno, Calif., native, Cliff is tied for 70th place at 6-over-par 148 after day two.
Redshirt senior Cody Riecks was the final 'Dog on the scorecard, carding a 7-over-par 78 in the second round. The Auburn, Calif., native finished day two in 85th place with a score of 11-over-par 153.
The final round is set to begin with tee times off holes No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8 a.m. PST on Saturday. Live scoring results will continue to be provided here.
