Candice White tabbed to preseason all-conference team for the second straight year.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced its 2018-19 preseason women's basketball predicted order of finish and all-conference team this afternoon. Led by preseason all-conference selection, Candice White, Fresno State was picked to finish third, one spot higher than the Bulldogs finished the 2017-18 regular season.
Â
The MW's preseason predicted order of finish, all-conference team and individual honors were voted on by a panel of the Conference's 11 head coaches and select women's basketball media from around the league. Fresno State placed third in the poll with 175 points behind 2018 co-regular season champions Boise State (229) and UNLV (208).
Â
White was selected to the league's preseason all-conference team for the second straight year. The senior averaged a league-best 19.3 points per conference game and scored at least 20 points in 14 contests during the 2017-18 season. The native of Modesto, California, set the program single-game scoring record with 40 points against Nevada and posted a .919 (125-of-136) free-throw percentage, which is the second-best single-season percentage in MW history. Last week, White was tabbed to the Ann Meyers Drysdale watch list as one of the nation's top 20 shooting guards.
Â
She is joined on the all-conference team by Boise State's Riley Lupfer (Player of the Year), Marta Hermida, New Mexico's Jaisa Nunn and UNLV's Katie Powell.
Â
The 20th season of Mountain West women's basketball tips off on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Fresno State will face Northern Arizona in Flagstaff at 11:30 a.m. PT.
