McMaryion and Johnson headed to East-West Shrine game in January

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State seniors Marcus McMaryion and KeeSean Johnson have each accepted invitations to participate in the 94th East-West Shrine game. The all-star game will take place on Jan. 19, 2019 in St. Petersburg, Fla. and will be televised on the NFL Network.

McMaryion accepts the invitation owning a 20-4 record as the Bulldogs' starting quarterback. With one game left wearing a Bulldog uniform, McMaryion is having one of the most efficient seasons in the FBS. He currently ranks seventh in the nation in completion percentage (69.8%) and has thrown 25 touchdowns against just three interceptions. The week leading into the Bulldogs' Mountain West Championship win, he was named an honorable mention All-MW selection.

Johnson accepts the invitation owning one of most prolific careers by a wide receiver in Fresno State history. The senior set program records this season for both career receptions and career receiving yards and is also the nation's active leader in career catches and consecutive games with a catch (49). Johnson also holds the Fresno State record for most consecutive games with a catch and can break the Mountain West record with a catch in the Las Vegas Bowl. The week leading into the Bulldogs' Mountain West Championship win, he was named to the All-MW second-team.
The two will play their final games as Bulldogs on Saturday in the Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl. It will be aired nationally on ABC, starting at 12:30 p.m.

Since 1925, the East-West Shrine Game has benefited Shriners Hospitals for Children and its mission to provide advanced care for children with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of the families' ability to pay for services.

Players and coaches visit a local Shriners Hospitals for Children during game week to meet the patients and gain a greater understanding of the importance of the game. During the inspirational and humbling visit, the teams experience a day they will never forget. Whether dancing to music, playing games or simply sharing stories with one another, the instant friendships that form between the patients and players are a testament to our motto of being more than just a game.

The East-West Shrine Game is the longest running college all-star football game in the nation. The East-West Shrine Game is an important part of America's football tradition, giving top college players a chance to showcase their talents to NFL scouts and a national television audience.

For more than 90 years, some of football's greatest athletes and coaches have contributed to the tradition of the East-West Shrine Game. Players like Gale Sayers, Tom Brady, John Elway, Allan Page, Dick Butkus, Brett Favre, Gino Marchetti and Walter Payton, along with coaches Don Shula, Dick Vermeil, Paul "Bear" Bryant and Jerry Glanville, to name a few, have supported the East-West Shrine Game.
