Mimi Ho grabs top 25 finish at the Gold Rush

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior Mimi Ho topped the Bulldogs' leaderboard on Tuesday, firing a 1-over-par 73 to grab a top 25 finish for the Fresno State women's golf team at the Gold Rush, hosted by Long Beach State at El Dorado Park Golf Course. Ho was 10-over-par (75-78-73) for the tournament and tied for 22nd out of 81 competitors.

"It was exciting to see Mimi learn from Monday and execute her game today," said head coach Emily Loftin. "She played like a senior and we're going to need her leadership the deeper we get into our schedule. Overall, I would of liked to of seen the group make a bigger charge, but we will regroup and be ready for the next one."

Now five tournaments into the 2017-18 schedule, Ho has claimed four top 25 finishes and owns a 72.60 scoring average over 15 rounds.

The 'Dogs other senior in the lineup, Samantha Spencer, carded the next-best final round score for Fresno State with a 4-over-par 76 on Tuesday. Spencer rolled through the front nine with seven-straight pars and led Fresno State with 37 pars over the duration of the tournament. Spencer finished the event tied for 37th at 13-over-par (75-78-76).

Brigitte Thibault, who was tied for 15th after two rounds, finished tied for 30th. The freshman carded a 6-over-par 78 final round after going 6-over-par (73-77) on the opening day.

Alison Muirhead (73-79-78) placed tied for 44th at 14-over-par and Kelsi Stieler (78-77-83) finished the event tied for 60th at 22-over-par to cap the team scoring.

As a team, the 'Dogs placed eighth of 14 teams. Dominika Gradecka, who played as an individual, finished her first event as a Bulldog tied for 53rd at 19-over-par (79-77-79).

Fresno State will take the week off and be back in action Feb. 26-27 at the Bruin Wave Invitational. UCLA will host its tournament at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
