Fresno State hosts Vanderbilt in President's Day matchup

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State will host Vanderbilt in the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium on Monday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. PT.

Admission and parking to all Fresno State women's lacrosse games are free of charge.

Promotions – Monday's game will serve as the team's annual Grow the Game. The Bulldogs have invited out local high school lacrosse teams. Pregame, there will be a lacrosse workshop for youth to participate in and a bounce house. At halftime, there will be a Chevron Shirt Toss. Postgame, team autograph cards will be distributed for the team's postgame autograph session.

SCOUTING THE COMMODORES
Vanderbilt is 1-0 on the season, 1-0 on the road.

The Commodores were pegged to finish sixth in the Big East Conference this season after finishing the 2017 season with a 6-9 (3-6 Big East) record.

Last game – The Commodores are coming off an 18-14 win over Kennesaw State. Attacker Kayla Peterson led Vanderbilt with five goals and two ground balls. Midfielder Julie Blaze who had four goals, two assists, three groundballs and one caused turnover in the win was named the Big East Midfielder of the Week.

QUICK LOOK AT THE 'DOGS
Fresno State is 2-1 on the season, 1-0 at home.

Last game – Fresno State is coming off a 15-11 win over Mercer in its 2018 home opener. Fresno State owned the advantage in shots (32-27), ground balls (24-21) and saves (11-9). The 'Dogs had less turnovers than the Bears (23-13). On offense, the duo of Tiffiny Wallace and Sarah Bloise led the 'Dogs. Wallace tallied four goals, six shots, two ground balls and one caused turnover. Bloise recorded three goals, one assist, four shots and one caused turnover. On defense, Olivia Mannon had a team-high five caused turnovers and chalked three ground balls. Goalkeeper Laurel Maunder recorded a season-high 11 saves.

MPSF Player of the Week – Last week, Mannon was named MPSF Defensive Player of the Week and Mackenzie Wallevand was named MPSF Rookie of the Week. Mannon led Fresno State's defense with seven draw controls, nine caused turnovers and seven ground balls on the week. Wallevand made her Fresno State debut, finishing the week with two goals, seven shots, three draw controls, two assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover.

2017 IN REVIEW
Fresno State finished the 2017 season 9-7(2-6 MPSF), the first winning season for the Bulldogs in program history. As a team, the 2017 squad broke 25 program records.

Fresno State returns 15 letterwinners, including nine starters. The Bulldogs reload their roster with 10 newcomers.

On offense, the Bulldogs return a key duo in Tiffiny Wallace and Sarah Bloise. The duo finished the 2017 season with a combined 83 goals, 37 assists 54 draw controls and 120 points.

On defense, the Bulldogs return another key duo in Abigail Bergevin and Alex Romanowski. The duo combined for 50 ground balls, 37 caused turnovers and nine draw controls.

In the box, Fresno State returns its starting goalie Laurel Maunder. Maunder finished the 2017 season with 136 saves, 25 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
