Fresno State-New Mexico State announce future series

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State Interim Director of Athletics Steve Robertello announced on Monday that a home-and-home series between New Mexico State and the Bulldogs has been agreed to. It will be carried out with a road date on Sept. 28 in 2019 and a return trip for the Aggies to Bulldog Stadium on Oct. 17, 2020.

"We look forward to renewing an old series with New Mexico State next year and the year after," said Robertello. "These two schools have a long history of playing one another stretching back to the Sweeney and Pat Hill days and it will be fun to see Coach Tedford do the same."

Fresno State last played New Mexico State in 2011; it was a WAC game during the Bulldogs last season in the conference before departing for the Mountain West. The two shared conference affiliation in the WAC from 2005-2011. The two also played annual contests from 1984-91 as members of the PCAA/Big West conference. The first-ever meeting dates back to 1972 with a trip to Las Cruces.

In total, Fresno State and New Mexico State have played 18 times and own a 17-1 all-time advantage. The 'Dogs suffered their first loss against the Aggies in the last matchup in 2011 after winning the previous 17 in a row.

With Monday's announcement, Fresno State football's 2019 nonconference schedule is now complete with the season opening against Power 5 opponents in USC (Pac-12) and Minnesota (Big Ten) while closing with Sacramento State (Big Sky) and New Mexico State (Independent).
