Lawson, Wilson earn ITA doubles ranking

Bulldog doubles team is the highest ranked pair in the Mountain West.
FRESNO, Calif. – Four weeks into the spring season, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its first doubles rankings of the season. With a 6-2 win last month over the then-No. 1-ranked team in the country, junior Emma Wilson and sophomore Georgia Lawson earned themselves the highest ranking in the Mountain West at No. 55.

"It feels so nice to have something to show how hard the whole team is working," Lawson said. "I'm happy that I could do my part and I know how much it means to Emma as well. I was so thrilled for us when we managed to beat Duke. Fingers crossed, I can't wait to get some more ranked wins."

The Fresno State pair are 6-4 on the year and 3-2 in the spring. During their first match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, the Bulldog pair upset the No. 1 team in the country in Samantha Harris and Kelly Chen of Duke with ease, 6-2, in Durham, North Carolina. A week later, the two knocked-off Washington's top doubles team of Miki Kobayashi and Vanessa Wong on the road, 6-2, in Seattle, Washington.
