'Dogs overrun Hornets 21-3

FREDERICA, Del. – The Fresno State women's lacrosse team ended its three-game road trip with a 21-3 win over Delaware State on Wednesday. 12 Bulldogs scored goals in the contest for a season-high 21 goals.
Fresno State improves to 5-3 on the season.
Lauren Gonzales, Marina Mayo and Megan Walaitis scored hat tricks with three goals apiece. Kayla Galet, Sarah Bloise and Dawson Chalifoux each scored two goals for Fresno State. Hannah Krats, Ryleigh Bone, Lauren Kiszely, Emily Miller and Nicole Ortlieb each scored one goal to round out scoring for the Bulldogs.Â

FIRST HALF
Krats, Galet, Mayo, Bone, Bloise, Mulvaney, Tiffiny Wallace, Olivia Mannon, Alex Romanowski, Mackenzie Wallevand and Abigail Bergevin chalked the start for the Bulldogs, with Laurel Maunder in the box.
Fresno State opened the game on a 3-0 run, sparked by a goal from Bloise on a free position shot.

The Hornets scored their first goal with 23:14.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the contest when they went on a 9-0 run to end the half, taking a 14-2 lead. Gonzales scored her first collegiate goal with 5:02 left in the half. Fresno State's defense held Delaware Scoreless for nearly 18 minutes.

Delaware State would score one more time with 59 second left in the half, making it a 14-3 game at halftime.

SECOND HALF
Fresno State held Delaware State scoreless in the second half. This was the second time this season that the Bulldogs held their opponent scoreless for a full 30 minutes. Fresno State scored six goals in the second half, winning the game 21-3.

Fresno State owned the advantage in shots (35-10), ground balls (11-3) and draw controls (19-6). The Bulldogs' 19 draw controls was a season-best for the Bulldogs and five turnovers was the fewest this season.

On offense, a season-high 12 Bulldogs scored goals in the contest. On defense, Olivia Mannon recorded a career-high seven draw controls. Mannon also recorded one caused turnover and one assist.
