Klyuchnikova, Tuiasosopo give ‘Dogs two wins on Saturday

Junior Varvara Klyuchnikova captured her second win of the spring in the high jump.
NORTHRIDGE, Calif./SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – High jumper Varvara Klyuchnikova and hammer thrower Aisiah Tuiasosopo each picked up wins on Saturday for the Fresno State track and field team. For Klyuchikova, it was her second in as many weeks for the Bulldogs. The Fresno State track and field team split up its team this weekend as the throwers traveled to the Northridge Invitational while the other groups competed in the Cal Poly ShareSLO Invitaitonal.
Between the two meets, Fresno State earned six podium finishes with four coming from the throwers in Northridge. Tuiasosopo won the hammer throw at CSUN with a season-best mark of 56.38m/185'-0". Kylie Colman finished third in the event at 42.95m/140'-11".
In the men's shot put, Joseph Munoz placed second with his top throw of the spring at 15.66m/51'-4.5". Right behind him in third was Luis Aguilar at 14.58m/47'-10". Aguilar finished just ahead of Munoz in the discus with a fourth-place finish.
At Cal Poly, Kyuchnikova earned her second win of the outdoor season in high jump, clearing 1.67m/5'-5.75", just shy of her mark from last week. In the 400 meters, Maja Pogorevc made her first appearance on the track since January, finishing with a time of 56.81 to place third.
The 'Dogs also picked up four other top-five results which included Cecily Edwards placing fourth the 100 meters (11.94). Andira Ferguson (long jump - 5.65m/18'-6.25"), Matthew Founds (5,000 meters – 16:21.05) and the men's 4x400 relay team (3:28.13) each paced fifth.
The Bulldogs will split up again next week as athletes will travel to the Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational and Stanford Invitational from March 28-31.
