Alex Lee fires 3-under-par 68, in contention at NCAA Raleigh Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – Fresno State's individual qualifier Alex Lee posted a 3-under-par 68 on Tuesday at the NCAA Raleigh Regional, hosted by North Carolina State at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

The junior sits in a tie for 14th among the 75-player field and is nine strokes off the lead.

"Alex made the adjustments from day one to today and got off to a fast start on the front nine," head coach Chad Spencer said. "He played solid golf on the back nine to stay in contention and is in a tremendous position for a great final round on Wednesday."

Lee started hot right out of the gates, carding three birdies in his first seven holes. He then rattled off eleven straight pars to conclude his round and finish with a 3-under-par 68.

Doug Ghim of Texas is in first place at 12-under-par while North Carolina State's Benjamin Shipp sits in second at 11-under-par. However, Alex Lee's target heading into Wednesday's final round will be Broc Everett of Augusta, who is at 9-under-par. Texas and North Carolina State are currently slated to advance while Augusta is not, meaning Everett is the top individual on the leaderboard after two rounds.

The final round begins Wednesday morning at 4:30 a.m. PT. Alex Lee will once again tee off on Hole No. 1 at 7:04 a.m. PT.

The top five teams and top individual not on those teams move on to the National Championship at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma later this month.
