Alex Lee’s postseason road ends at NCAA Raleigh Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – The curtain closed on the 2017-18 season for Fresno State's Alex Lee on Wednesday at the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Raleigh Regional. The Bulldogs' individual qualifier posted a 1-under-par 70 in the final round and finished with a collective 4-under-par 209 for the tournament en route to tying for 16th among the 75-player field.
"I am very proud of the way Alex prepared and played this entire week," head coach Chad Spencer said. "Each and every time on the golf course is a learning experience and he gathered tons of knowledge this week. I am excited for the entire team and how this experience will help them."
Lee shot a 2-under-par 34 on the front nine, carding birdies on No. 7 and No. 8. He then went bogey-birdie-bogey on holes No. 12-14 before closing out his final round with four straight pars to card a 1-under-par 70. Overall, the third-year 'Dog holed 42 pars, eight birdies and four bogeys during the 54-hole tournament.
No. 16 Texas grabbed the top team qualifying spot, posting a 39-under-par 813 for the tournament. No. 28 Duke (22-under-par), No. 36 and host North Carolina State (21-under-par), Augusta (20-under-par) and No. 21 Arizona State (18-under-par) rounded out the top five that will move on to the National Championship.
Campbelll's Pontus Nyholm won a three-way tiebreaker over Middle Tennessee's Marcus Byrd and Hayden Buckley of Missouri on the third playoff hole (No.9) to advance to the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
