Trio of Bulldogs named All-American Scholars
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Three members of the Fresno State women's golf team earned All-American scholar honors by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). To be recognized, all honorees must hold at minimum a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
The WGCA recognized 1,011 women's collegiate golfers, an increase from 974 a year ago.
Senior Mimi Ho became the first Bulldog in program history to garner the All-American Scholar title for four consecutive years (2015-18), while junior Kelsi Stieler and freshman Brigitte Thibault each earned the honor for the first time.
The Bulldogs crowned three All-American scholars for the second consecutive year, making 2018 the fifth time in program history that there have been three or more 'Dogs awarded with the prestigious honor.
To conclude her Bulldog career, Ho most recently placed tied for 13th at the Mountain West Championships. During the 2017-18 season, Ho owned a 73.90 scoring average and claimed six top 20 finishes over 10 tournaments - both team bests. Ho's top finish during her senior season was a career-best runner-up finish at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Oct. 22-24, marking one of her three top 10 finishes this season. Ho was named a second-team All-Mountain West selection at the conclusion of her senior campaign for her first career all-conference honor.
Stieler, a soon-to-be senior, last participated in the Dale McNamara Invitational (April 9-10) in Tulsa, Okla. where she placed tied for 59th. Thibault, entering her sophomore season, capped her freshman campaign placed tied for 21st in the 2018 Mountain West Championships.
