Trio of Bulldogs named USTFCCCA All-Academic

Antic, Mattson, Norman earn national academic honors.
NEW ORLEANS – Junior Jestena Mattson and sophomores Tijana Antic and Tieara Norman earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced on Thursday.  A total of 874 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field seasons.

Mattson captured the program's fourth conference title in the heptathlon, and first in the Mountain West. Her total of 5,511 points surpassed Felicia Brown's school-record mark of 5,486 which was set in 1996.

In her first season with the Bulldogs, Antic landed a personal best mark of 12.46m/40'-10.5" in the triple jump at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships to place fifth in the event.

In her first year competing in the pentathlon, Norman posted a score of 3,659 points at the conference indoor championship as she placed sixth.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
