Women's Golf Comes up Short in New Mexico

Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Results (9.11.18)

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Fresno State women's golf team fought some growing pains on Tuesday, the final day of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational being hosted by New Mexico, playing three underclassmen and finishing in 16^th place. The 'Dogs finished the tournament with a score of 53-over-par 917 (306-302-309).

Sophomore Brigitte Thibault led the 'Dogs throughout the tournament as she fired a final round 2-over-par 74, finishing at 5-over-par 221 overall (71-76-74). That slate was good enough to place her tied for 33^rd out of the 93 individuals competing.

Freshman Jessica Hall was the second-lowest scoring Bulldog in the tournament, shooting a 5-over-par 77 on the day. Hall finished tied for 63^rd place with a final score of 12-over-par 228 (79-72-77).

Senior Kelsi Stieler was not far behind Hall, improving each round and carding a 4-over-par 76 on the day, giving her a 16-over-par 232 (79-77-76) final score, placing her tied for 73^rd.

Redshirt junior Kristin Simonsen followed Stieler, shooting a 10-over-par 82 on the day, placing her in 82^nd with a final score of 20-over par 236 (77-77-82).

Freshman Delana Basanisi did not compete on Tuesday, leaving her with her previous 18-over-par 162 (84-78) two-round total and automatically dropping her to 93^rd place.

The 'Dogs posted a 21-over-par 309 on the final day of the tournament.

Fresno State will visit Missouri next as they are set to host the 11^th annual Johnie Imes Invitational, Oct. 1-3.
