Red defeats Blue in annual Red vs. Blue Scrimmage
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State equestrian team held its annual Red vs. Blue Scrimmage on Saturday morning at the Student Horse Center. The Red Team defeated the Blue Team 10-9 in a close competition through the four events. The Red Team saw eight of its 10 points earned by freshmen. Â

Freshmen Cecily Hayes and Kameron Thorn, senior Erica Rosinski and junior Paige Barton earned the MOP's for their performances on the day.Â

The morning started with the Blue Team earning a 3-2 win in the Equitation Over Fences. Freshman Aliva Hart, senior Alexandra Dirickson and sophomore Frannie Twohig picked up their points for the Blue Team while Hayes and sophomore Hailey Livingston earned the pair for the Red Team. Hayes earned the Fences MOP and the highest scoring ride of the day with an 81 to Dani Schneider's 73.Â

The teams tied in the Horsemanship, 3-3. Freshman Brooklyn Moch, senior Katelyn Altenhofel and redshirt sophomore Nicole Campbell earned their points for the Blue Team. Thorn of the Red Team picked up the MOP for the Horsemanship with a 72-67.5 ride against Alexis Miller. Freshmen Hannah Bujis and Madisen Torigiani earned the remaining points for the Red.Â

At the intermission, the Blue Team had a 6-5 advantage.Â

The Red Team shined in Equitation on the Flat with a 3-2 victory. The Red Team points came from freshman trio Elizabeth Stodden, Grace Countryman and Hayes. Blue Team senior Erica Rosinski earned the Flat MOP with a 77-64 ride over Hailey Livingston. Twohig earned the second Blue Team point in the Flat for a perfect 2-0 mark on the day.Â

The teams were tied going into the final event of the afternoon, 8-8. The Red Team sealed with win with Reining points from freshman Lexee Padrick and Barton. Barton earned the Reining MOP on a 70.5-69 ride against senior Kara Gustafson. Senior Hailey Robison picked up the only point for the Blue Team while junior Allison Nordvall and freshman Addison Welman tied in their matchup with a 66.5 each.Â
 Looking Ahead
The 'Dogs travel to Waco, Texas on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 for the Willis Invitational where they will face off against Delaware State and No. 10 UT-Martin, respectively.Â
