Pogorevc caps final day in Seattle with 400-meter win

SEATTLE – Fresno State senior Maja Pogorevc walked away with the team's only individual title of the weekend, capturing the top spot in the 400 meters at the UW Invitational on Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
Pogorevc grabbed the first-place finish after winning the final heat of the event, besting Sacramento State's Shilah Bedingfield with a time of 54.92. The Bulldog was the lone athlete to finish under 55 seconds in the event. Heading into the weekend, no other athlete in the Mountain West had run below 55 seconds in the 400 meters this season.
The senior's day was not done though as she led the 'Dogs to a third-place showing in the 4x400-meter relay as the team clocked in at 3:46.95.
Two other Bulldogs also nabbed top-10 results. Tijana Antic placed eighth in the triple jump with her best mark of the season at 11.54m/37-10.5. Yazmin Torres also finished eighth in the invite section of the shot put with a toss of 13.83m/45-4.5.
Fresno State will return to action at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Feb. 8-9.
