Bulldogs tied for second after opening round in South Carolina

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -Â As the first round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate Invite finished on Sunday afternoon, the Fresno State women's golf team found itself tied for second place with a 1-over-par 289. The 'Dogs were paced by junior Brigitte Thibault who fired a 3-under-par 69 and sophomore Harriet Lynch who had a 1-under-par 71 through the first round of the tournament.Â

Thibualt fired her lowest opening round score of the year on Sunday and sits tied for third through round one. The junior shot a 4-under back nine to highlight her opening round. Thibault is just one stroke back from the lead.Â

Lynch sits tied for eighth after tying her season-low round. Along with Thibault, Lynch fired her lowest opening round score of the season which was also the lowest opening round of her collegiate career.Â

Sophomore Jessica Hall is T20th with a 1-over-par 73 through day one at the Turtle Point Golf Course. Hall was even throughout the front nine, but had bogeys on holes 11 and 12 for her 1-over finish. The sophomore is competing in her second tournament of the season and has set a single round season low on Sunday.Â

Freshman Jinyoung Yun finished round one T55th after firing a 4-over-par 76 while senior Kristin Simonsen is T110 with a 12-over 84.Â

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow morning for a 5:00 a.m. PT tee time off hole #10. Fresno State is just six strokes back of the tournament leader North Florida with two rounds remaining in the tournament. Live stats and tournament information are available at GolfStat.com.Â
