‘Dogs to host Fresno State Invitational, Mountain West Outdoor Championships.
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State has unveiled its schedule for the 2020 track and field season, the first under head coach Jason Drake. The outdoor season will be highlighted by a pair of meets at home in May at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
Â
"We're excited to get the schedule set for 2020," Drake said. "We have an advantage here on the West Coast to have great opportunities to compete close to home and our schedule reflects this. My hope moving forward is to build a couple of great opportunities here at home, and we will start by getting back on the local scene with our Fresno State Invitational the first weekend of May before hosting the conference championships."
Â
The Bulldogs will split its indoor season between Seattle, Washington and Albuquerque, New Mexico. A former assistant at Washington for nearly a decade, Drake will take his new team Dempsey Indoor three times during the winter. The 'Dogs will also travel to the Don Kirby Invitational on Feb. 13-14 in Albuquerque to compete at the site of the 2020 Mountain West Indoor Championships. The venue will also serve as the host for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Â
The outdoor season will see the Bulldogs leave their home state just once before the end of May as they will open the year in Las Vegas, Nevada at the UNLV Spring Invitational and Multis. April will see a pair of big weekends for Fresno State as they will split two weekends between the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic the first weekend of the month before following that up two weeks later with the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays.
Â
The 'Dogs will close out the regular season at home with the Fresno State Invitational from May 1-2 in Clovis at Veteran's Memorial Stadium. Two weeks later, Fresno State will return to the Clovis stadium to host the Mountain West Outdoor Championships for the fourth time in five years.
Â
The NCAA West Preliminary Round will take place in Lawrence, Kansas at the end of May. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will follow two weeks later in Austin, Texas.
