‘Dogs slip in second round of John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHUE, Kauai'i – The Fresno State men's golf team took a slight step back in the second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate, hosted by Hawai'i at Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Kauai'i, falling to 15th place in the talented field by the end of the day on Friday. Fresno State shot a 3-over-par 291 on the day to bring the two-round total to 4-over-par 580.
Senior Alex Lee led the way for the 'Dogs again, firing a 2-under-par 70. The Sacramento, Calif., native now has a two-round total of 3-under-par 121, marking him tied for 19th place overall.
Sophomore Michael Cliff had the next lowest score on the day, shooting a 1-over-par 73 in the round. The hometown Fresno, Calif., native's first and second rounds were identical, giving him a two-round total of 2-over-par 146 to place tied for 50th at the end of the day.
Freshman Tommy Stephenson and sophomore Kevin Huff both posted the same score in the second round, each coming out with a 3-over-par 75. Stephenson, a Carlsbad, Calif., native, now sits tied for 58th place with a two-round total of 3-over-par 147. Huff, an El Dorado Hills, Calif., native, is currently tied for 66th place with a two-round total of 4-over-par 148.
Freshman Seldon Doyle posted the same score as Cliff in the second round, carding a one-over-par 73 on the day. The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native rounded out the scorecard for the Bulldogs with a two-round total of 13-over-par 157 and currently sits in 108th place.
The final round is set to begin with another shotgun start at 10 a.m. PT on Saturday. Live scoring and results will continue to be provided here.
