Two 'Dogs sit within top 15 at the Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Following Monday's opening two rounds of the Gold Rush at Old Ranch Country Club, the Fresno State women's golf team has two individuals inside the top 15 while the team sits in sixth. The final round tees off Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.

Brigitte Thibault answered back with a second round 2-under-par 70 following an opening round 3-over-par 75 to fly up the individual leaderboard. She was tied for seventh by the end of the day at 1-over-par (75-70=145) after her strong second round moved her up 14 spots from 21st. Thibault led the entire 82 person field with 28 pars over the 36 holes on Monday.

Kristin Simonsen is two shots back from her teammate (72-75=147), Thibault, and sits in a tie for 13th. Simonsen shot an even-par 72 in the first round and posted a 3-over-par 75 over the next 18 holes. Simonsen led the Bulldogs with eight birdies on Monday, she posted five in her first round and three in the second.

In total, there were three rounds carded by Bulldogs par-or-better. The third was Jessica Hall. The freshman opened with an even-par 72, but a 7-over-par 79 second round would drop her into a tie for 31st. Hall was 7-over-par on the day (72-79=151).

Harriet Lynch is tied for 43rd shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the first round and a 6-over-par 78 in the second round. Rounding out the team scoring was Delana Basanisi who opened with a 5-over-par 77 and closed with a 10-over-par 82. Basanisi is tied for 68th.

Danielle Richman, who traveled to play as an individual, is tied for 71st. She posted scores of 11-over-par 81 and 10-over-par 80.
