Thibault secures fourth top 15 finish of season at Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. – The Gold Rush, at Old Ranch Country Club hosted by Long Beach State, came to an end on Tuesday with two Bulldogs earning top 20 finishes. Brigitte Thibault claimed 13th while Kristin Simonsen earned 19th.

As a team, the Bulldog dropped to 13th finishing 44-over-par (908) at the event on a day the team posted a 24-over-par (312). Thibault led the 'Dogs with a single round low 3-over-par 75.

Thibault capped the Gold Rush at 4-over-par 220. The sophomore's top round was a team-best 2-under-par 70 in the second round. She was steady throughout the event, carding 40 pars, the second-most among all 82 participants.

Simonsen posted her best finish since tying for sixth at Bulldogs' second tournament in the fall, the Johnie Imes Invitational (Oct. 1-3). She was three strokes behind Thibault with a 7-over-par 223 after capping the final round with a 4-over-par 76 on Tuesday.

The top Bulldog round of the day came via Danielle Richman. In her second event of the season, she carded a 1-over-par 73 in third round. Richman entered the day tied for 71st and climbed into a tie for 60th. The junior's scores did not count towards the team score competing as an individual.

In addition to Thibault and Simonsen, the freshmen trio of Jessica Hall, Harriet Lynch and Delana Basanisi made up the remainder of the team scoring. Hall posted a 6-over-par 78 while Lynch and Basanisi each shot an 11-over-par 83 during Tuesday's final round.

Hall finished tied for 47th with a 13-over-par 229, Lynch tied for 67th with a 20-over-par 236 and Basanisi tied for 74th with a 26-over-par 242.

What's Next
After competing back-to-back weeks to start the spring season, the women's golf team resumes action March 11-12 at the Wildcat Invitational. The event will be hosted by Arizona at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
