Bulldogs head to Sunshine State on East Coast trip
FRESNO, Calif. - In the midst of a record-breaking season, the Fresno State lacrosse team will take its first trip to the east coast of the season to face Jacksonville and Stetson in Florida this weekend. The 'Dogs will be in Jacksonville on Friday with a 3:00 p.m. PT start time and travel to Deland on Sunday for an 8:00 a.m. PT game versus Stetson.

QUICK LOOK AT THE 'DOGS
Fresno State is 3-1 on the season. The Bulldogs defeated two Pac-12 foes in a single season for the first time in program history after edging Cal, 15-14 and downing Oregon, 18-10 in Las Vegas.

Offensively, senior Ryleigh Bone and junior Tiffiny Wallace lead the way for the Bulldogs with 13 points apiece. Bone has scored 11 goals in the first four games of the season and added two assists. Wallace has fired nine goals and accounted for four assists.

On the defensive end, sophomore Hannah Krats has caused a team-high four turnovers and grabbed eight ground balls this season. Junior keeper Laurel Maunder has been strong in the net with 53 saves through four games for a .500 save percentage.

Reviewing last week: Fresno State traveled north to face reigning Pac-12 champion Stanford last week.

The 'Dogs came up short in the contest and picked up their first loss of the season, falling 17-7 to the Cardinal. Stanford led in most categories, but the 'Dogs came out on top in free position shots (6-1) and saves (16-10).

Junior attacker Kayla Galet led the Bulldogs with two goals and three draw controls in the contest. Defensively, junior attacker Jordyn Pandolfo scooped three ground balls, caused one turnover and won one draw control.

SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE
The Dolphins are 1-2 on the season and 1-0 at home with a 19-9 win over UC Davis in their season opener.

Jacksonville was the preseason favorite in the Atlantic Sun Conference preseason poll after winning the last two ASUN conference tournaments. Senior defender Erica Deal was named the conference Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year while senior midfielder Lillie Miller and redshirt junior attacker Erin McGuire earned spots on the Preseason All-ASUN Team.

The Dolphins ended their 2018 campaign with a 16-4 record (5-0 ASUN). Jacksonville's postseason run came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in a neutral site outing against then-No. 15 Colorado. The Buffaloes used a strong offensive outing to top the Hatters, 23-18.

Last Week: Jacksonville went 0-2 on its West Coast trip last week, facing Oregon and No. 24 USC. Although coming up short, the Dolphins fired at the goal and outshot their opponents 69-61 on the week.

SCOUTING STETSON
Stetson is 0-3 this season. The Hatters collected losses against Quinnipiac, Monmouth and at Arizona State.

Stetson was picked to finish fifth in the ASUN Preseason poll. Sophomore attacker Riley Reagan was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team after an outstanding freshman season for the Hatters. Reagan earned Second-Team All-Conference and ASUN All-Freshman Team honors at the conclusion of the 2018 season. She led the conference with 35 assists last season and inked her name in the Stetson record book with a program-leading 53 points.

The Hatters finished the 2018 season with a 4-13 record (1-4 ASUN). Stetson rolls into 2019 with a young squad after losing seven seniors last season, but it returns a majority of it defense with junior Karli Maguire and senior Shelby Lehmann back after combining to account for nearly 60 goals for the Hatters in 2018.

The Hatters fell at Arizona State on Feb. 24, 11-3.

Stetson was kept off the board throughout the first half as Arizona State took a 6-0 lead. The Hatters added their three goals with three different scorers in the second half, while being held to only 13 shots in the game.

The Hatters came out on top in draw controls, earning nine and limiting ASU to seven.

2018 IN REVIEW
Fresno State finished the 2018 season at a mark of 9-9 (0-2 MPSF), the second best record in program history. The team went 7-3 on the road, notching four more wins away from home than any previous season.

Fresno State returns 16 letterwinners this season. The 'Dogs added five newcomers in the offseason to bolster their roster as well.

On the offensive side, Fresno State returns a crucial duo in junior Tiffiny Wallace and senior Sarah Bloise. The pair has led the squad in goals, points and assists over the past two seasons.

Bloise led the team with 40 goals and 20 assists for 60 points last season. Wallace was just behind in each category, picking up 36 goals and 18 assists for 54 points. Three other returning 'Dogs each surpassed 20 goals on the season in junior Marina Mayo (29), junior Kayla Galet (28) and senior Ryleigh Bone (22).

On defense, Fresno State also returns junior Olivia Mannon, who led the team in caused turnovers with 24 and draw controls with 64. Sophomore Hannah Krats will look to build on her freshman season success after scooping a team leading 31 ground balls to go with 20 caused turnovers.

In the box, Fresno State returns third-year starting goalkeeper, Laurel Maunder. The El Dorado Hills, Calif., native made 133 saves and caused 11 turnovers last season.

Fresno State has five players that were selected to the All-MPSF team last season in Bloise, Wallace, Mayo, Mannon and Krats.
