Lacrosse hosts Radford Friday, honors seniors on Sunday vs. Quinnipiac

The Fresno State lacrosse team will be back in action at the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium, hosting Radford on Friday and Quinnipiac on Sunday.
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State lacrosse team will be back in action at the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium, hosting Radford on Friday and Quinnipiac on Sunday.

The 'Dogs will face the Highlanders of Radford on Friday night in a 5:00 p.m. PT matchup. Friday is Family and Friends Night, and also Greek Night at the Bulldog Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.

Sunday is Senior Day. Fresno State will honor its seven seniors prior to competition with Quinnipiac. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. PT. The Bulldogs will honor seniors Sarah Bloise, Ryleigh Bone, Emily Lackey, Emily Miller, Alex Romanowski, Angela Saladino and Natalie Yorba.

Admission and parking to the Fresno State Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium are always free of charge.

QUICK LOOK AT THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State fell to Virginia Tech at home on Tuesday night, 15-8. The Bulldogs fall to 4-3 on the season with seven games remaining in the regular season.

In the contest with the Hokies, junior Tiffiny Wallace and freshman Sydney Skalstad tied with a team-high three goals each. In the cage, sophomore Laurel Maunder picked up 12 saves and scooped two ground balls.

Scoring Skalstad
Fresno State freshman midfielder Sydney Skalstad has made her presence known on the field early on. Skalstad has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Rookie of the Week on three of four occasions this season. Most recently, the freshman took home the honor after scoring four goals in two games against Jacksonville and Stetson in Florida.

Skalstad has accumulated 15 goals and five assists this season. She has also contributed with 10 draw controls throughout the season. Skalstad is making her way up the team's leader board as she currently sits in first with 41 shots and third in goals this season.Â

Marina Mayo leaving an impact
Junior midfielder Marina Mayo is off to another great year in a Bulldog uniform, contributing 13 points on 10 goals and three assists so far this season. The Park City, Utah native is second on the team with 14 draw controls and tied for first with five caused turnovers. She has also added eight ground balls.

Returning 'Dogs doing what they do
Senior attacker Ryleigh Bone has netted 16 goals this season, scoring hat tricks in three games. She has converted three free position shots this season, scooped seven ground balls and won four draw controls. Bone sits atop the conference standings with her 16 goals this season.Â

After scoring three goals against Virginia Tech on Mar. 12, junior Tiffiny Wallace now leads the Bulldogs with 18 goals in the first seven games. Wallace has a team-best 23 points with 18 goals and five assists, and ranks second in the conference in points this season. The Sandy, Utah native has contributed with eight ground balls and two caused turnovers.

SCOUTING RADFORD
The Highlanders are 1-4 this season with their only victory coming in their season opener against Saint Francis. Radford has lost the last four games to George Washington, Virginia Tech, Mount St. Mary's and La Salle

Radford is led by senior Adrian Rius who has scored 12 goals for the Highlanders this season. She also leads the team with 23 draw controls, and has added five ground balls and caused five turnovers.

As a team, Radford has caused more turnovers than its opponents this season (61-56). The strong defensive effort is led by sophomore Rachel Rogers and freshman Katie Bendrink who have tallied nine caused turnovers apiece. The duo has also totaled for 25 ground balls this season.

The Bulldogs and Highlanders have met one time in program history. Fresno State defeated Radford on the road, 17-8, in 2018.

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats are 3-4 on the season, coming off of a 19-10 win at the University of Hartford on March 6.

Quinnipiac has two players scoring in double figures at this point in the season, Allison Kuhn (20) and Megan Szawlowski (16). The pair of attackers have led the way for the Bobcats this season scoring 36 of the team's total 75 goals.

Kuhn leads the way for the Bobcats offense with goals (20), assists (10), points (30), shots (55) and free position goals (6-for-13). She was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on February 11. Kuhn earned the honors after scoring the game-winning goal in double-overtime against Stetson. She tied her career-high with five goals and added one assist, two draw controls and one ground ball in the contest.
