Western squads sweep in Bulldogs' 12-4 win at UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. - The No. 9 Fresno State equestrian team defeated UC Davis on the road on Saturday afternoon, 12-4. The four Aggie points are the fewest the Bulldogs have allowed in any competition this season.

The western squads combined for an 8-0 sweep in the two events for the first time this season. Fresno State moves to 4-6 on the season.

The Bulldogs earned all four Most Outstanding Performer honors against the Aggies; Lexee Padrick (Reining), Alexandra Dirickson (Equitation on the Flat), Alexis Steele (Horsemanship) and Erica Rosinski (Equitation Over Fences).

How it happened
UC Davis opened up with a 3-1 win in Equitation Over Fences. Junior Erica Rosinski scored the only point in the event with an event-high 85 to her opponent's 78. Freshman Alivia Hart was able to show off her abilities in a high-scoring 84 in the Bulldog exhibition ride in the Fences.

Fresno State picked up momentum from that point on and never looked back. The 'Dogs came out strong in Horsemanship, earning all four points in the event. Freshmen Hannah Buijs, Brooklyn Moch and Alexis Steele, and redshirt sophomore Nicole Campbell earned the points for the 'Dogs.

At the break, Fresno State had a 5-3 lead.

The hunt seat discipline proved stronger in Equitation on the Flat, outscoring the Aggies 3-1. Freshman Hana Bieling opened up scoring for the 'Dogs with a 77-70 victory over Lilly Ulrich, which came to be the largest margin of victory in the event for the 'Dogs. Freshman Cecily Hayes earned her third Flat point of the season with a 76-73 victory. Senior Alexandra Dirickson rounded out the event with an event-high 85 to her opponent's 80.

The Bulldogs finished on a high note in Reining, earning a sweep in the event. The Reining squad of junior Paige Barton, freshman Lexee Padrick, junior Shea Gilson and senior Allison Nordvall took home points for the 'Dogs. Padrick earned the MOP honor in the event with a 75.5 to her opponent's 0.

Up Next: The Bulldogs travel to Stillwater, Okla. to face the Cowgirls of No. 6 Oklahoma State one week from today. Riding against the Cowgirls is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m. PT on Saturday, March 9.
