Equestrian Senior Spotlight: Alannah Lones
FRESNO, Calif. - With Senior Day closing in for Fresno State equestrian on Saturday, our final senior spotlight goes to four-year Bulldog, Alannah Lones. Â
Â
Alannah has spent the last four years with Fresno State equestrian. Although not getting the opportunity to ride in a regular season competition for the Bulldogs, Lones has been a major contributor to the success of the team both on the road and at home.
Â
"I am so grateful for the experience I had at Fresno State and am so blessed with all of the people and opportunities I will leave this University with," said Lones. "It has been a privilege to spend my last four years here, and my time on the team has given me the opportunity to do what I love while getting a degree pursuing my dream career."
Â
Being a part of the equestrian program at Fresno State has taught her how to manage her time, prioritize tasks and be a good team player.
Â
With early morning chores, over 30 horses to maintain and an intense life as a student, things weren't always easy for the senior. However, having a team of 30 women who are experiencing the same hardships as Lones, things became easier over the years.
Â
A team of over 30 women gives room for new relationships over a short four year term. As many of the senior class has felt, Lones admitted to appreciating the friendships she has created with her teammates over the year.
Â
"I am most thankful for the relationships I have made during my time at Fresno State. My teammates have made this experience one I won't forget and I am so thankful for the life-long relationships I have made."
Â
Fresno State has been a place for Lones to learn different skills that will be useful for life outside of collegiate riding.
Â
"Being on this team has taught me discipline, commitment, and has really shaped me into the person that I am today."
Â
After graduation, Lones hopes to be able to put her skills that being on the Fresno State equestrian team has taught her to work. While working on an advertising degree in the classroom, Lones hopes to be able to use the skills that she has attained to complete her degree and find an advertising job in California.
Â
The last chance to catch the Bulldog senior class in action at home this year is tomorrow as they host UC Davis. Riding is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PT and a senior ceremony is slated to occur at the conclusion of the first pair of events.
