Bulldogs finish regular season with 16-3 win over UC Davis on Senior Day
FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 9 Fresno State equestrian team defeated UC Davis, 16-3, at the Student Horse Center on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. The 16 points earned by the Bulldogs are the most the team has seen since earning 17 against South Dakota State on Sept. 23, 2017.

Fresno State swept the Horsemanship event, 5-0. In two meets this season, the Bulldogs remain perfect in the Horsemanship against the Aggies. The 'Dogs also won the Equitation on the Flat with a perfect mark, 5-0.

The Bulldogs swept the Most Outstanding Performer honors against the Aggies. Freshman Hana Bieling earned herself the first accolade of her career in Equitation on the Flat, freshman Cecily Hayes picked up her second award in Equitation Over Fences, redshirt sophomore Nicole Campbell earned her fifth Horsemanship MOP honor and junior Paige Barton secured her first Reining MOP this year.

Fresno State honored its eight seniors on Saturday afternoon and all eight saw action in either true competition, a demonstration ride or an exhibition ride against the Aggies.

How it happened
The afternoon got started with Horsemanship and Equitation Over Fences. Junior Erica Rosinski opened up scoring for the 'Dogs with a 78 to her opponent's 68. Hayes earned the next point with an 82 to UC Davis' 77, which would be enough to earn Hayes the MOP award in the event. Senior Alexandra Dirickson earned the final point in the event as she outscored her opponent 77-45 for the largest margin of victory in the event.

The Bulldogs caught fire in the Horsemanship. Fresno State swept the Horsemanship event and all scores were a 70 or above. Campbell led things off with a season-high 78.5 to her opponent's 65. Freshman Brooklyn Moch and sophomore Alexis Miller each scored 77.5 to edge their opponents. Freshman Hannah Buijs and Alexis Steele rounded out the points for the 'Dogs.

Fresno State had an 8-2 lead going in to the half.

The Bulldogs kept the momentum into the second half, only allowing one point through the final two events. In the Flat, Bieling shined with a high-scoring 86 to her opponent's 58. The freshman showcased her best career outing and earned her first MOP. Hayes, Rosinski, Dirickson and redshirt junior Brooke Nelson earned the remaining four points for the 'Dogs .

Barton led the way in the Reining with a 76.5 to her opponent's 66.5 to seal the MOP honor in the event. Senior Allison Nordvall picked up her second Reining point of the season with a 68.5-67 edging of her UC Davis opponent and junior Shea Gilson earned her point with a 68-67 victory.

Up Next: The Bulldogs will now look towards the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championships that will span from April 17-20 in Waco, Texas. The final set of event rankings by the NCEA will be released on Monday and will be used to seed teams for the Event title competitions.
