Heptathletes open Day 1 at Bryan Clay

AZUSA, Calif. – The Bryan Clay Invitational opened on Wednesday with the multi events taking center stage. Jestena Mattson sits in 13th place for Fresno State in Group 5 of the heptathlon with 3,315 points. Group 3 features Bulldogs Isabel Posch and and Nienka Du Toit who sit in 11th and 14th, respectively.

Competing in the top flight, Mattson began her day with a personal best time of 14.02 in the 100-meter hurdles, surpassing the 14.11 which she set four days ago. In the final event of the day, the senior clocked a personal record in the 200 meters at 24.46. Mattson sits 286 points out of first.

Posch would total 2,683 points in her first heptathlon as a Bulldog and is 377 points back of the lead in Group 2. Like Posch, Du Toit is also competing in her first heptathlon at Fresno State and has totaled 2,009 points.

Day 2 for Group 2 will begin at 9 a.m. PT on Thursday while Group 5 is slated to start at 12:30 p.m.
