'Dogs return home for a pair of non-conference matches

FRESNO, Calif. – After opening Mountain West play last weekend, the Fresno State women's tennis team will step back out of conference this weekend to host Cal Poly and Long Beach State. The Bulldogs will face the Mustangs on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT before welcoming LBSU to Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Fresno State enters the week with a 7-9 overall record after dropping its first two matches of the conference season last weekend on the road at San Diego State and UNLV. Since the start of March, the Bulldogs are 4-0 against unranked non-conference opponents.

The 'Dogs have been led this spring by freshman Shir Azran who has posted a 9-1 record since joining the team in January. Fellow freshman A.C. Hummel also boasts a record with just one loss during the dual season as she sits at 8-1. Hummel has a team best 12 wins overall (12-6) along with freshman Jennifer Timotin (12-17).

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly enters the weekend with a 6-8 overall record. The Mustangs have won three of their last five matches but are just 3-6 away from home this season. Susanne Boyden leads the team with a 7-2 record in the spring, holding a 5-2 mark at the No. 2 position.

Last time out:Â The Mustangs dropped their only match last weekend, a 5-2 result at Hawai'i.
Series history:Â Fresno State holds a 22-4 record all-time against Cal Poly. The Bulldogs have won seven straight matches in the series dating back to 2012.
SCOUTING THE BEACH
Long Beach State sits at 11-4 overall and is 3-1 away from home. The Beach boasts a lineup with four players who have totaled at least 18 wins on the year and at least eight wins during the dual season. Natalia Munoz paces the team with a 21-7 record. She is 11-3 overall in duals with 10 of those wins coming at the No. 3 position.
