Fresno State Athletics announces 2019 football game themes

FRESNO, Calif. – Thursday is a big day on the calendar for all college football fans as the countdown to the 2019 season hits 100 days for the majority of FBS football teams. For Fresno State, it marks 100 days until the team walks into the Coliseum to face USC on Aug. 31.

Which means, the Red Wave has to patiently wait an additional week to fill Bulldog Stadium for the first time in 2019, but when Sept. 7 rolls around it will be time to "Paint the Valley Red."

The first of the six game themes for the 2019 season will be "Paint the Valley Red," an evening the return of Fresno State football is celebrated Valley wide. It starts with the fans, therefore fans will be encouraged to join the team in unison wearing red. Meanwhile, following last year's introduction of the "Run to Victory," an initiative started by director of athletics Terry Tumey that invites all new (freshman or transfer) students to run across the turf like the team before kickoff, all Fresno State students will be encouraged to participate in red from head-to-toe to show off their Fresno State pride.
