5/3/2019 12:00:00 PM | Men's Golf
FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State men's golf senior Alex Lee was named an All-Mountain West selection, the conference announced on Friday. Lee, who received an at-large individual bid from the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee on Wednesday evening, becomes the first Bulldog to receive All-MW honors back-to-back seasons.
The last time a men's Bulldog golfer earned back-to-back all-conference accolades dates back to 2007-08, when Fresno State was in the WAC. It was a duo that picked up that distinction consecutive seasons in Grant Doverspike and Matt Ryan. Prior to that, it was now head coach Chad Spencer that last earned back-to-back all-conference honors in 2003-04.
Lee, on the course in 2018-19, capped 11 events with a 71.52 scoring average and most recently finished fourth at the Mountain West Championship on April 28. Lee also scored a fourth place finish at the SeattleU Invitational on April 2 that earned him his first career MW player of the week award.
The Mountain West selected 12 golfers to its' 2019 All-Mountain West team.
Lee's at-large bid was for the Stanford Regional, which begins May 13 at Stanford Golf Course.
