Trio of Diamond 'Dogs earn Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-American honors

Junior pitcher Ryan Jensen, redshirt senior infielder McCarthy Tatum and sophomore pitcher Jaime Arias were named Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-Americans on Thursday.
TUSCON, Ariz. - Three Diamond 'Dogs were honored with All-American honors on Thursday by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Junior pitcher Ryan Jensen led the way earning Second-Team honors while redshirt senior infielder McCarthy Tatum and sophomore pitcher Jaime Arias garnered Third-Team honors.
The first Bulldogs to be named CBN All-Americans since Jordan Luplow was named to the Third Team in 2014, the three Bulldogs honored are a single-season high for Fresno State who had previously had two 'Dogs honored in 1989, 2008 and 2011.
Jensen has put together a standout season on the mound for the Bulldogs posting an impressive 11-1 overall record as he is one of only seven pitchers in the country with a nation-leading 11 wins. The Salinas, Calif., native was named both the Mountain West Pitcher of the Year and the Mountain West Tournament MVP and ranks second in the conference in strikeouts (99), innings pitched (92.1) and is fifth in ERA (2.92). Winning his last eight starts in a row, Jensen has been outstanding over the last two months of the season going 8-0 with a 2.31 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 58.1 innings while only allowing 13 walks.
Tatum has put together an equally as impressive season offensively hitting .353 from the plate while starting all 53 games for the Bulldogs. The Mountain West leader in RBI with 71, Tatum ranks 11th nationally in that category and is ninth in program history in RBI in a single season. In addition, the Clovis native has been powerful from the plate ranking second in the MW with 12 home runs and is third in the conference with 77 hits. His 28 extra-base hits lead the team and his .601 slugging percentage tops the MW.
Rounding out the All-American selections for the Bulldogs is Arias. A 2018 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American, Arias stepped it up as a sophomore this spring converting 12 saves for the 'Dogs, the second-most in a single season in program history. The Woodland, Calif., native only allowed 13 earned runs in 42.2 innings of work and has struck out 54 batters while only walking 11. Arias has held opponents to a .225 average and only allowed an earned run in eight of 27 appearances.
