FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State Director of Athletics Terry Tumey announced on Thursday that Scott Winsor will depart as the Bulldogs' head track and field coach to pursue other opportunities.
Â
"I want to thank Coach Winsor for his dedication and service to Fresno State," said Tumey. "He has made a positive impact on so many student-athletes in his tenure and will leave this program in a better place than he found it. Our goal here is to provide our student-athletes with a championship experience in athletics and academics and what we will look for in his successor will mirror those traits Coach Winsor held important."
Â
Winsor's tenure began in 2008 leading both the men's and women's team. He was the sixth head coach in the 84-year history of the men's program and third head coach in the 25-year history of the women's program. During his 11 seasons at the helm of the program, the Bulldogs saw more than 100 student-athletes qualify for NCAA postseason events, and at the conference championships, Fresno State totaled 43 individual and seven relay titles. Twenty of the school's current records were also set under Winsor's watch.
Â
Four of the program's most decorated athletes in their disciplines have come through Fresno State during the last 10 years — Jestena Mattson (combined events), Megan McKee (throws), Annemarie Schwanz (distance) and Je'Nia Sears (long jump). He saw the quartet combine to win 16 individual championships, garner five All-America honors and set nine of Fresno State's current records.Â
Â
A national search for Fresno State's next head track and field coach will begin immediately.
