Two 'Dogs sit in top 20 through day one at CDA Resort Collegiate Invitational

COEUR d'ALENE, ID. -- The Fresno State women's golf team opened its season on Monday at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Gonzaga. The Bulldogs made solid moves up the leaderboard and finish alone in seventh through the first two rounds.

Fresno State has two golfers in the top 20 through two rounds. Action in Idaho will resume tomorrow for the third and final round.

Sophomore Brigitte Thibault leads the way for the 'Dogs with a 2-over-par 144 (75-69) to place T7th. Thibault bounced back from a 4-over-par opening round and shot a 2-under in round two for her opening day finish.

Sophomore Delana Basanisi, participating in the tournament as an individual, broke her way into the top 20 with a 4-over-par 146 to leave her tied for 17th. Basanisi leads all individuals in the tournament.

Sophomore Harriet Lynch isn't far behind, sitting T21st with a 147 (75-72). In her collegiate debut, freshman Jinyoung Yun and senior Kristin Simonsen are tied for 39th (77-73=150). Sophomore Jessica Hall finished day one T67th with a 13-over 155.

As a team, Fresno State sits in seventh through the first two rounds (304-287=591 (+23)), their same finish after day one of their visit to the tournament in 2017.

Gonzaga leads after day one with a 3-over 571. One round remains with a shotgun start at 7:45 AM PT tomorrow morning. Follow along with the live stats (GolfStat.com).
