Lynch named Mountain West Golfer of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second consecutive week, a member of the Fresno State women's golf team has been selected as the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week as sophomore Harriet Lynch secured her second career MW weekly honor on Thursday. Lynch finished third at The Gold Rush with a 2-under-par 214 (73-69-72).

"I am extremely proud of Harriet," said head coach Emily Loftin. "It is a testament of all of her hard work and effort that she has put in, not only to her game, but her overall training as a student athlete. It is really exciting to see her have a great performance this week in Long Beach, but also be honored by the conference. There are a lot of good things ahead for Harriet in the future and I am really proud of her for this."

Lynch led the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish at the Long Beach State-hosted event for their second consecutive runner-up finish of the spring. The sophomore saw the best placing of her career as the tournament wrapped up on Tuesday. The Bulldog placed third behind two Georgia golfers, and was five strokes back of the lead. Georgia was the second-highest ranked team in the tournament, checking in at No. 38 in the latest Golfstat rankings.

Lynch led the field in par 4 scoring and had 11 Birdies, and was one of just four individuals to finish the tournament under par at The Gold Rush. She shot her second career round in the 60's in the second round on Monday. Lynch was just one stroke shy of tying her career-low tournament score.

The sophomore has had two top 10 finishes this spring and four this season. She is averaging a 72.44, the second lowest average on the squad.

The Bulldogs have a week off and get back to action on Mar. 9-10 for the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Arizona, at the Sewailo Golf Club.
