Bulldogs wrap up day one at Wildcat Invitational

TUSCON, Ariz. - The Fresno State women's golf team is in fourth place through 36 holes at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Arizona at the Sewailo Golf Club. The Bulldogs shot a 13-over-par 589 through the first two rounds on Monday. It was a tough first round for the Bulldogs as they finished the opening 18 holes in eighth place with a 302, but bounced back in round two to move up the leaderboards after firing a 287.Â

Tournament host Arizona has given itself a cushion and leads the field with an 18-under-par 558. New Mexico State is second with a 5-over 581 and Oregon is in third one stroke behind. The Bulldogs are seven strokes behind Oregon.Â

Junior Brigitte Thibault paces Fresno State with a 2-under-par 142 (70-72). Thibault is currently tied for sixth through the first two rounds. She is in the player leaderboard behind five Arizona players.Â

Sophomore Harriet Lynch (76-74) and senior Kristin Simonsen (74-76) are tied for 31st with a 6-over-par 150. Sophomore Jessica Hall is T48 with a 10-over 154 (82-72). Hall regrouped after the first round to move up from T60. Freshman Jinyoung Yun is with Hall at T48 as she shot a 85 in the first round, and a 69 in the second. Yun fired one of just seven rounds in the 60's on day one of the tournament.Â
