Gong selected to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State's Bailey Gong was announced Friday as a selection to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Men's At-Large Second Team. Gong is the ninth Fresno State student-athlete in the last 10 academic years, and the first Bulldog tennis player since Remi Boutillier in 2012, to earn Academic All-America honors.
The senior from Exeter, Calif., earned a 4.00 cumulative GPA at Fresno State while majoring in mechanical engineering. Of the 92 selections between the men's and women's teams, Gong was the only Mountain West student-athlete to receive the distinguished award.
The three-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete award recipient was one of 20 student-athletes among the three men's teams to maintain a 4.00 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate students.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The men's at-large team includes student-athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
