Diamond 'Dogs in the Pros: Season Recap

FRESNO, Calif. - With the major league regular season wrapping up on Sunday, a pair of former Diamond 'Dogs will meet up in the Wild Card Round when the MLB postseason starts on Tuesday.
Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) and Jordan Luplow (Cleveland Indians) will vie to win the best-of-three series hosted at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Justin Wilson (New York Mets), Taylor Ward (Los Angeles Angels) and Jimmy Lambert (Chicago White Sox) all saw their 2020 regular seasons come to a close on Sunday.
Aaron Judge, OF, New York Yankees
After playing in the Yankees' first 17 games of the season, Judge saw action in 10 of the New York's final 12 games of the regular season after a calf injury limited him to one game between Aug. 12 through Sept. 15.
Judge went 3-for-5 scoring three runs and drove in a RBI in a 12-1 win at the Toronto Blue Jays on Sept. 22. In 28 games this season, Judge hit .257 collecting 26 hits, including three doubles, nine home runs, scored 23 runs and drove in 22 RBI and had a slugging percentage of .554.
The Yankees finished 33-27 overall and claimed the No. 5 seed in the American League playoffs where they will take on the No. 4 seed Cleveland Indians in the Wild Card Round.
Luplow appeared in 29 games for the Indians collecting 15 hits with eight going for extra bases adding five doubles, a triple and two home runs. He has scored eight runs and drove in eight RBI while recording a .359 slugging percentage.
He has tallied three multi-hit games with his final one of the regular season coming on Sept. 20 adding a run and RBI in a 7-4 win at the Detroit Tigers.
In a dramatic 3-2 win on Sept. 23, Luplow hit a walk-off home run against the Chicago White Sox.
The Indians closed out the season with a 35-25 overall record and earned the No. 4 seed in the AL playoffs and will host the No. 5 seed New York Yankees in the Wild Card Round.
Wilson appeared in 23 games in relief on the mound for the Mets posting a 2-1 record. In 19.2 innings of work, Wilson allowed 18 hits, eight earned runs and struck out 23. The Clovis native struck out at least one batter in 16 of his 23 appearances this season.
In his final seven outings of the regular season, Wilson did not allow a hit in six innings and struck out five.
New York finished 26-34 overall and tied for fourth place in the National League East.
Taylor Ward, OF, Los Angeles Angels
Ward appeared in 34 games for the Angels collecting 26 hits, including eight for extra bases with six doubles and two triples. He hit .277 from the plate adding five RBI, scored 16 runs, stole two bases and slugged .383.
Since being recalled from the Alternate Training Site on Sept. 3, Ward hit .350 with 21 hits in 60 at-bats and slugged .483 while playing in 20 games. In a 7-3 win at home over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sept. 17, Ward went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.
The Angels closed out the regular season with a 26-34 overall record and finished fourth in the American League West.
Lambert made his major league debut on July 25 in the White Sox's 10-3 win over the Minnesota Twins tossing one inning and struck out his first-ever batter, 2017 AL All-Star Miguel Sano.
The 2016 Mountain West Co-Pitcher of the Year also threw one inning on July 28 at the Cleveland Indians before going down with a forearm injury and closed out the season on the 45-day injured list.
The White Sox tied for second in the American League Central with a 35-25 overall record and earned the No. 7 seed in the AL playoffs and will travel to the No. 2 seed Oakland Athletics in the Wild Card Round.
