'Dogs ink Wittenberg in early period

FRESNO, Calif. – 5,587 miles. That's the distance that Fresno State's newest signee Franka Wittenberg will travel to play in the Central Valley.
"We are so excited about Franka joining the Bulldog family," Fresno State head coach Jaime White said. "Franka's basketball IQ is special. Her international experience allows her to make elite decisions with the ball. She will be a versatile scoring threat immediately for us."
A 5-foot-9 point guard from Hildesheim Germany, Wittenberg has played extensively for Germany and within the German league. From 2017-21, she has been a part of the German youth national team from U15-18, most notably participating in both the 2019 European Championship and the 2021 European Challengers.
Wittenberg was the 2016-17 U18 WNBL Rookie of the Year as her team won the first division German championship. The following year, her club won the Wolfpack Wolfenbüttel won the second division championship. She made her first division senior level debut during the 2018-19 season with her current club, Eintracht Braunschweig Lionpride.
