Fresno State’s Tommy Stephenson remains in the Top 15 after the first two rounds of the 2021 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert.
PALM DESERT, Calif. – The wind picked up on day two of the 2021 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and the Fresno State men's golf team had to make mid-round adjustments while navigating the difficult, but picturesque Classic Club.
Â
Fresno State junior Tommy Stephenson remains in the Top 15 after the first two rounds despite shooting a 75 on Saturday, which dropped him into a tie for 13th.
Â
The Bulldogs turned to a lower ball trajectory on a day that saw winds greater than 30 miles per hour and the scoring average rise by more than a stroke for the now 114-player field.
Â
Fresno State posted a 304 team score to drop to 15-over-par and sit alone in 13th out of the now 20 teams entering the final round, which will take place on Sunday.
First-round leader Kansas had to withdraw due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Jayhawks' golf team.
