Multis open UNLV Spring Invitational for Bulldogs

LAS VEGAS – After taking last weekend off following the start of the outdoor season, Fresno State's multis opened up the UNLV Spring Invitational on Friday. Freshman Garrett Ostrinski led the group during the first day of competition as he sits in eighth in the decathlon with 3,164 points.
Ostrinski's strongest event came in his final one of the day as he finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 51.58 to earn 743 points to his total. Michael McCabe sits two spots behind his teammate in 10th with 2,794 points.
Kaitlynn Perez is the lone competitor for the Bulldog women in the heptathlon. In her first multi-event for Fresno State, the freshman is currently 16th with 2,411 points through four events.
Day 2 of the decathlon and heptathlon will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT. The lone non-multi events on the schedule for Friday are the men's and women's hammer which are slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
