SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A pair of Fresno State student-athletes opened competition at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational on Friday.
Jamarcus Phillips competed in the discus and placed fourth. He had a throw of 50.13m/164-5 on his final attempt. In the women's discus, Tearra Haney took third. She saw a toss of 49.74m/163-2 on her first attempt. It was a career-long throw for the senior Bulldog.
Haney returns to action tomorrow in the hammer throw alongside teammate Zoe Yeast. Also competing tomorrow is Lynee Sims, set for the triple jump on Saturday afternoon.
